Researching Training

The object of the programme is to establish cohesion between all research into training and education. Within Health Campus/PHEG, there are three coordinators for the Researching Training programme (OvO, Onderzoek naar Onderwijs). They are:
Nienke Boogaard (specialisation in geriatric medicine and Master’s in Vitality and Ageing), Vera Nierkens (BA and MA in medicine), and Irene Slootweg (General Practice Medicine and Master’s in Population Health Management).

Mission & Vision

The goal of research into training and education is to obtain insight into how to guarantee the quality and quantity of care professionals, and the things that are beneficial and detrimental thereto. We pursue this goal by developing and implementing innovative and evidence-based educational interventions. This is the programme’s contribution to the mission and vision of PHEG and Health Campus The Hague. The department of PHEG contributes to the promotion of health and the quality of care, and to binding professionals working in prevention and care (see explanatory statement under: State of Health in the Netherlands). This is in line with Health Campus The Hague’s mission to reduce discrepancies in health outcomes and to promote sustainable approaches in the broader perspective of health. Training and education of current and future care professionals working in extramural care is one of the department’s most important core tasks. This means not only providing high-quality education to current and future care professionals (quality), but also ensuring that the Netherlands has access to adequate numbers of care professionals working in extramural care, both now and in the future (quantity; see: Leren en werken in de zorg, vier scenario’s voor de hoog opgeleide zorgprofessional (“Learning and working in care: four scenarios for the highly educated care professional” in 2023; SBOH, 2022).
